Measuring in Year 1

This week we are learning about Capacity in Year 1. Some ideas for activities at home are having fun in the bath with different shape and sized plastic containers, using the language of full, empty, half full. Pouring water from one container to another to find out which holds more or less. Find out how many cupfuls/egg cups a container holds and then compare it to another. Encourage your child to start spotting how much a container holds e.g  litre (l) or millilitres (ml) .
