Prayer
At St Wilfrid’s, prayer is an integral part of school life. We teach the children traditional Catholic Prayers and also encourage them to be creative in their own prayer life.
Classes have daily opportunities to pray together. This ranges from a short reflection or prayer, to a longer Celebration of the word where all of the children play their part in preparing and leading the worship. Each class says prayers in the morning, grace at lunch and prayers at the end of the day.
Every class has their own prayer box which is full of resources that can enhance class prayer times, such as candles, prayer cards, rosary beads, scripture quotes, pebbles, artwork, religious artefacts etc.

Our chaplaincy Team have created an ‘intentions box’ which is situated in our entrance for any child to write down a prayer intention. This is then shared and prayed for at prayer club.
Prayer Club:
We have a prayer club which is run by the School Chaplaincy Team and open to everyone at lunchtime once a week. This is a lovely space for the children to reflect and have some peace during the day. The children enjoy a range of ways of experiencing prayer such as through art, meditation, songs, silence and stories.

Families are encouraged to participate in prayer through the sending home and sharing of Advent and Lent bags.
