Thursday 19th May Woodbourn Rd Athletics Stadium. Our children took part in the Y5 and Y6 athletics event with 10 schools from across the city taking part.
The event consisted of 60m/80m sprint,600m/800m run,600m walk, and mixed sprint relays ball throw and long jump.
All the children performed exceptionally, and for some of them this was their first time they had represented St Wilfrids in a sporting event.
We actually managed to come 2nd overall out of all the primary schools in Sheffield which is amazing.
Outstanding performances of the day were Zena H 1st in the y6 800m run , Maggie N 4th in the same race, Koren S 1st in the Y6 600m walk, Annie N 1st in the Y5 600m run, Rebecca E 2nd in the same race. Jack S 1st in the Y5 60m sprint and the Y5 relay team of Aine M, Katie S, James P and Jack S who came 1st in the Y5 mixed sprint relay.
These children qualify for the city finals to be held on Thursday 18th June at Woodbourn Rd.
Once again many thanks to Mrs Pearson and Mrs Smith for helping us on the bus and tram and assistance at track side, together with those parents who came and supported us.
Special mention to Ella H and Emma S who helped umpire the Boys Ball throw . The officials commended them on their behaviour and competence during the event. Well done girls!
