I hope you have all managed to read the summer term newsletter. If for some reason you have not received a copy please ask and I will print you one off.
Since returning from the Easter holidays we have been concentrating very much on simple sentence writing in class. This is something that can be reinforced at home. I love to see any writing that the children have done at home and am always pleased when they come through the door in the morning with something to show that they have produced at home. I am encouraging the children to sound out the words they want to write rather than ask an adult how to spell a word, this enables them to become more independent in their writing.
In our maths sessions this week we are concentrating on money and the recognition of the value of different coins. I have suggested to the children that they spend time with you at home looking in your purse/wallet and having a look at the coins they find. I have told them they must ask first!
I am looking forward to taking the children to Whirlow Farm this week. If the weather continues to be sunny please can you send your child with a hat for the day and plenty to drink.
I am still short of some of the black books that were sent home over Easter. Please could you return them as soon as possible as we regularly update this record.
Thank you
