Welcome back everyone and we hope that you all enjoyed the Easter break. We have a busy term ahead with the Y5 residential to Hollowford and Y6 to Blencathra. In addition, we have More Than Dance for Y5, Sports Day at EIS, The Wizard of Oz (Y6 drama), KS2 Summer Concert and lots of exciting opportunities for Y6 as they prepare for their transition to secondary schools. The whole school will be participating in the Big Dance, which is a world record breaking attempt involving children across the UK.
This term, in Literacy, we will write play scripts, narrative poems, instructions and stories in the style of a familiar author. We will continue our Olympic topic and find out about how London is preparing for the Games, which countries will compete, Olympic events and athletes. Our art topic is ‘What a performance’ which is linked to the Summer production of The Wizard of Oz. In RE, our topic is ‘Building Bridges’. In Science,Year 5 will study Materials. Year 6 children will work with Mrs Connolly on their Blencathra project.
As you can see, there are lots of exciting events and we are looking forward to the term ahead! Thank you for your support. If you have any concerns, please call in after school and we would be happy to speak with you.
