The Magic Box

The Magic Box

We read a poem today called The Magic Box. The children thought carefully about what they would put in their own magic box. We have collected an idea from each child.

Here is the poem for you to enjoy. I am sure you will be very impressed with the ideas the children came up with.

The Magic Box

I will put in my box,

The drop of a tear trickling down a girl’s face,

The first snap of a piranha,

And an uncle’s last smile.

I will put in my box,

The first splinter from a tree,

A shining star in the moonlight,

And a baby just being born.

I will put in my box,

The first pound ever to be made,

The tear of a baby elephant,

A shiny golden television,

And the last scream from the Titanic.

I will put in my box,

The first noise of a golden gun,

A big volcano about to erupt,

And the burning fire of a fierce dragon.

I will put in my box,

The last black star shining in the sky,

A silvery star that has sunk to the bottom of the sea,

And one golden hair from the tooth fairy.

I will put in my box,

The last second of Christmas day,

A lost boy crying for his mum,

And the first car ever made.

I will put in my box,

The slam of a book shutting,

The shimmering moon sparkling in my eye,

And the last pearl in the sea.

I will put in my box,

The last footstep of a dinosaur,

A golden tooth sunk in the Celtic sea,

The first words my mum and dad said to me,

And the first flower to be smelled.
