The children will be bringing home a list of high frequency words that they are learning to spell in class. The children already know how to spell many of these words so they can colour in the ones they know already. A nice activity to practise spelling these words can be found at http://www.firstschoolyears.com/literacy/resources/hangman/set1.htm or instead the children can practise the technique of ‘Look, Say, Cover, Say the word again and write (making sure the child say’s the letter names as they write them).
Last week the children were doing mathematics word problems. To consolidate this work a homework sheet will come home so you know what they have been learning in the classroom.
