Reception update

Reception update

Just to let you all know that we have been given the opportunity to help plant some trees on the field with Mr Elliot on Friday afternoon. Please can you provide a pair of wellies and a pair of old trousers for your child to change into for this activity. Also please ensure your child has a waterproof coat on this day.

I am hoping to rearrange our trip to Mother Of God for a couple of weeks time. I will let you know further details as soon as I have confirmed with Father Kilgannon.

On Fridays afternoons we have started taking part in a class reflection session. We have a quiet time together when we light a candle and think about our week. The children think about the things they think they have done well this can range from school work, to playing nicely with friends, to listening well on the carpet. I have introduced the idea of targets to the children ( something that in following years they will be very aware of) and they have begun to set their own targets for the following week. Again these are very simple and are child initiated. We have had varying targets that the children have thought of themselves ranging from being kind to little brothers and sisters, to reading every night at home, to wonderful writing and phonics in school. It would be good if the children could share their targets with you at home and tell you what and why they have set themselves for the coming week. I too set myself a target which the children keep track of as the week goes on!

Thank you for your continued support
