South Yorkshire Cross Country Champions!!

South Yorkshire Cross Country Champions!!

What a fantastic performance from our Y5/6 girls at the South Yorkshire Cross Country Championships held on Friday At Cannon Hall Farm Barnsley.

Schools from across the region competed in the annual event to find the best Cross Country team in South Yorkshire.

Our team consisted of Annie, Aine M, Katie,  Polly,  Scarlet, Lucy and Rebecca. These girls have been running once a month on Saturday morning throughout the year in the Sheffield cross country events.

Their performances during the season warranting their qualification for the Regional Finals

On what was a tough course the girls ran their hearts out. The best four finishers out of the team determined the placings

Annie excelled in coming 2nd , Aine 5th  Polly 7th and Katie 10th  with Rebecca , Lucy and Scarlet all putting in fantastic performances.

A score of 24 overall meant that St Wilfrids were South Yorkshire Cross Country Champions 2016.

A few of our girls from last year’s y6 class  were also taking part representing Notre Dame in the y7 finals . Im pleased to say that Zena won the race with Maggie coming 2nd along with Amelie and her Notre Dame team mates who all ran really well. it was really satisfying to see Notre Dame claim the Regional final too !!

Can I particularly thank Mrs Naylor for organising the cross country throughout the year and on the day .Without all her hard work none of this would have been possible.

Also many thanks to all the parents who accompanied us on the day .
