St Wilfrids retain Sheffield Hotshots title !

Well done to the 10 children who competed  in the Links School Sports Partnership Hotshots Sheffield City Finals for Y4s at All Saints Goal Centre last Monday afternoon.

Having already qualified from their cluster meeting as winners a few weeks ago, the Y4s were now up against 7 other schools from across the city including Marcliffe, Coit, Nether Green, Oughtibridge and St Maries.

Each match consisted of 2 x 4 minute halves. 2 boys and 2 girls played the first half and then the other 2 boys and girls played the second half. The team , Marnie,  Aisling , Julia, Eliza , Millie , Ted, Joseph ,George,  Vinnie and Franklyn.

Throughout the tournament  all the children showed great determination coupled with plenty of basketball skills!!

In the first 3 matches St Wilfrid’s managed to win 2 and draw one and progressed to the semi final with ease.

In a tight match against Coit the children secured  victory , winning by 12 points to four!

The final was again a close affair, this time against a strong St Marie’s team. It was so pleasing to see the determination, skill and team work from all the children on both sides, cheered on  by lots of parents. After a close first half St Wilfrids got a couple of quick baskets and secured the prestigious title of Number 1 y4 Hotshots team in Sheffield.It was announced that they had a secured a place in the Y4 Hotshots Regional finals at the English Institute of Sport on March 15th.
