Y5 Hotshots Success at All Saints!

Y5 Hotshots Success at All Saints!

Well done to our eight children who participated in the Links School Sports Partnership Hotshots Finals for Y5s at All Saints Goal Centre on Thursday afternoon.

Having already qualified from their cluster meeting as winners a few weeks ago, the Y5s were now up against 5 other schools from across the city including Oughtibridge, Stocksbridge and St Maries.

Each match consisted of 2 x 4 minute halves. 2 boys and 2 girls played the first half and then the other 2 boys and girls played the second half.

Their first match against Oughtibridge was a close affair with St Wilfrids just managing to win by 2 points. In the second match the team were growing in confidence. Zena and Maggie were superb in defence and Isaac and Louis scored basket after basket , the team winning by 16 points to 6.

Two more wins followed ,with every member of the squad managing to score a basket. Strong running and dribbling  from Ted and Leo combined with fantastic defense from Sophie and Dera helped the team to overcome the opposition.

It really was rewarding to see such wonderful teamwork!

The final game against Stocksbridge  again resulted in a comfortable win and cemented St Wilfrid’s place in the Sheffield City finals in March.

Many thanks to all the parents who came and supported us in the afternoon.
