Well done to the 8 boys and 8 girls from Y5/6 who played in the Primary Schools Squash Trophy event at Hallamshire Tennis club. For some of the children it was the first time they had ever played squash !
The children were divided up into 2 teams of girls and 2 teams of boys. Each child played at least 4 matches ( 7 minutes per match ). The staff at the Hallamshire were lovely with the children, teaching them basic play and the main rules. Each match was refereed by 2 children from different schools. It was a pleasure seeing the collaboration and camaraderie amongst pupils form the different schools. Our children were always polite and respectful, and were a real credit to the school.
They all played their hearts out with a big smile on their faces and when the points were collated at the end of the event it was announced that St Wilfrids had regained the Primary Schools Trophy they had won last Spring.. The fun was topped off when each of them received a certificate and a huge trophy to take back to school.
Many thanks to all the parents/ grandparents who supported us on the day.
