Homework 29.9.13

Homework 29.9.13

Literacy

We have now started our topic about the Victorians. There is a very good website provided by the BBC with information about the Victorians. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/victorian_britain/

Please encourage your child to read some sections of it. Some of the text is quite difficult and your child may need you to read along with them. Please ask  them to think of questions to ask about what they have just read. This will give you chance to check whether they understand the text or not. We use a question hand in class to prompt the children to ask a variety of words. The question words on the hand are Who, What, Where, When, Why and How.

We will have a collection point in the classroom for good questions and they will be used in literacy lessons.

Maths

We have covered the 2x, 3x and 5x tables so far this term. Please help your child to recite these tables and to count in steps of 2,3 and 5. Children who already know the tables by heart can begin to learn the corresponding division facts.
