On the 12th of December, two classes from st Wilfrid’s, went to Kelham Island on a school trip. They were warned by the teacher, that the adults would teach you like they would in a workhouse,and that means strict very strict.As they were told it did happen.even though they didn’t treat you nicely it was still a great experience and all the children thoroughly enjoyed it:)
Recently on the 12th of December 2011, a class went to kelham island, and they did all sorts of things , like making rugs and getting in all sorts of bother, like poor old Alex nearly got whipped by the Cain, and got told that he was sopost to not have any balls in the yard but Mr pringle dos not believe in children with ball and games:}
We have started to use a new maths assessment scheme. The children are given a weekly test at either level 2, level 2/3 or level 3. See attached tests from week 1 and week 2. You will notice that the tests are very similar from one week to the next. Each week we will go through the test in groups and discuss how to calculate the answers. The children should gradually get used to answering the questions and the weekly score should increase. Once your child is able to complete over 20 questions correctly they will be given the next level of test. The tests will help to identify gaps in learning and the information will enable me to plan lessons and activities to address these gaps. If you are able to practise some of the questions at home it will help your child to increase their score.
Just to let you know that we have started to test your child weekly in Maths and then teach the areas that children need most help on in following sessions. If there are any areas of concern that arise from the tests, that may need some extra help from you at home, I will let you know. Mrs K
Our class party is on Tuesday 20th December. The plan is to have party games and hat making etc in the morning then party food in the afternoon. The children have been invited to watch the Y6 alternative Nativity play for the first part of the afternoon. Please could I have some volunteers to set the party food out in the classroom while we are in the hall watching the performance? There will be a list of party food for you to choose from in the classroom. It will be available from Wednesday pm.
